Project Momentum is proud to partner with the Hawaii State Department of Education to support teachers in meeting the professional development requirements for English Learner instruction. Our comprehensive offerings are designed to help educators build the skills they need to make content accessible and meaningful for all students.

Meeting Hawaii's Sheltered Instruction Qualification (SIQ) Requirements

Our professional development courses can help to fulfill Option 3 of Hawaii's SIQ requirement, which requires 72 seat hours of TESOL-related Department non-credit Professional Development courses. Sheltered Instruction enables certified content and grade-level teachers to deliver instruction in ways that are comprehensible to multilingual learners at all proficiency levels, ensuring equitable access to grade-level content while supporting language development.

Approved Vendor for Hawaii DOE

Project Momentum is an approved vendor under the Hawaii State Department of Education's Vendor List No. E25-07 for Professional Development Training for Teachers of English Learner Students (RFP D25-031). This designation confirms that our training meets the state's standards for supporting educators who work with English Learners.

Our Offerings

  • Access our library of free, self-paced online courses featuring pre-developed content that you can complete on your own schedule. These courses provide foundational knowledge and practical strategies for supporting English Learners across all content areas.

  • Need training tailored to your school or district's specific needs? We offer flexible options to create meaningful professional learning experiences:

    • Customized Asynchronous Courses with tailored online content designed for your context

    • Synchronous virtual training through interactive 3-hour video conferencing sessions 

    • Train-the-Trainer Programs that build internal capacity with customized training for teacher leaders

    • Additional Coaching Support, including one-on-one or small group coaching sessions

    All costs for customized training and coaching are outlined in Vendor List No. E25-07.

Hawaii educators and administrators can access free, asynchronous Project Momentum courses directly from www.projectmomentum.org/courses. 

Customized training can be requested using the English Language Order Form (ELOF) through Vendor List No. E25-07.
